Weekly Update #1 - Tutorial & Progression
Flower Crown Chaos » Devlog
Hey all, this is the first of many weekly updates to Flower Crown Chaos! Here are the major additions for the week:
- Tutorial - I added in a tutorial to the mechanics of the game in place of the controls page that was previously the player's guide to the game. This tutorial is complete with a series of objectives and dialogue to add more context to the situation the player character is put in.
- Currency - The player now earns money based on the score they achieve in-game and the amount of time they survived. This can be used to purchase upgrades in the catalog.
- The Catalog - The first major form of progression I have introduced is that of The Catalog. Given to the player by their mysterious hirer, it provides a few upgrades the player can purchase with money earned in-game. These upgrades will allow the player to survive longer and earn more money in subsequent playthroughs.
- Various small bug fixes and improvements
What's coming next week?
You decide! Fill out the form featured by the QR code at the end of the game by clicking on it or scanning it. One of the questions will allow you to give input on what comes next. I have a couple of plans in the works, but I would love your feedback! Expect at least one new progression system, however!
